Reviewing and Signing a Proposal

This article is for the person who receives a proposal by email and is asked to sign it. It shows what the signing page contains, how to choose options, and what happens when you accept or decline.

The email carries one button and one link to the same address. Open either. The page is titled Review and sign (or your sender’s own heading). The bar across the top names the sender — or reads Document for signature when no sender name is set — with the standing state beside it: “Sent for your review” until you act. The document itself is shown beside the signing panel so you can read what you are agreeing to.

The panel states the Contract total. If the proposal offers options, each optional row has a checkbox and, where quantities apply, a quantity stepper. Ticking a row changes the total by that row’s price; a quantity cannot be stepped below its minimum. On a monthly proposal the panel also shows the term and the amount per month, and the total is the first invoice.

  1. Open Read the consent notice and read it.
  2. Tick the consent checkbox. Its wording is set by the organisation sending you the proposal.
  3. Type your name in the name field. The accept button stays disabled until the consent box is ticked and a name is typed.
  4. Click the accept button (its label is the sender’s own wording). The page reports progress and says “This takes about fifteen seconds. Keep this page open.”

When it finishes the page shows Signed, with the name you typed and the document’s digest. You receive the executed document and its certificate by email; the sender’s organisation is notified.

Click Decline to turn the proposal down. The page shows Declined and the sender is told. Declining is also final for that link.

Both conditions must be met: the consent checkbox ticked and a name typed. Check both.

The page says the proposal was already decided

Each link accepts one answer. If you need to change it, contact the sender for a new proposal.

The link is personal to the named signer. Ask the sender to address the proposal to you, or to send it to the right person.
